  1. What is the mission of the physiotherapy department?

Fenerbahçe University Faculty of Health Sciences Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department; It aims to train physiotherapists who work for human health at all ages, provide support for patients to manage pain and prevent diseases, aim to increase functional capacity, adopt the principles of preventive rehabilitation and the concept of health promotion, who are researchers and health professionals who can work in interdisciplinary cooperation and bring them into society.

  1. Who is a physiotherapist?

Physiotherapist; pain and dysfunction caused by injury, illness, congenital disability, movement system disorders or other conditions; Appropriate exercises in order to maintain the health of healthy people, who determine the functional limitations, pain, disability and abilities of individuals with special measurement, evaluation and examination methods, plan, implement and re-evaluate the physiotherapy and rehabilitation program for the development of function and functional capacity according to the diagnosis of the physician is health personnel who has professional autonomy who plans preventive programs.

  1. How long is the education period of your Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department?

The education period of our department is 4 years.

  1. What are the employment areas of physiotherapists?

Students who graduate from this program can work in institutions affiliated to the Ministry of Health and hospitals, health units affiliated to other public institutions, private hospitals, special education and physiotherapy and rehabilitation centers, sports clubs, home for the age and public and private universities that provide physiotherapy education.

 

  1. What grades does the Physiotherapy department receive?

The Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department under the Faculty of Health Sciences accepts students with the numerical score type of YKS (Higher Education Institutions Exam).

  1. What is your language of instruction?

In our faculty, we have Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation departments where language of instruction is Turkish, and Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation departments where language of instruction is English.

  1. What is the grading system being applied?

In our university, the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS-ECTS) is used. ECTS credits can be found in the course catalogues.

  1. Is it possible for students to meet with the instructors whenever they want?

Students can meet with the instructors at any time and get their opinions. Each student's advisor will assist the student in matters such as course selection, internships, and exchange programs.

  1. Is there a dormitory facility?

Although there is no dormitory within our university, our central location makes us easily accessible to the dormitories of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, General Directorate of Credits and Dormitories. In addition, there are many public and private higher education student dormitories around our university.

  1. What is the difference between Fenerbahçe University Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department?

In our department, it is aimed to train physiotherapists who have acquired basic knowledge, developed clinical skills, can reach universal knowledge with an analytical thinking attitude, develop and produce brand new products, are aware of their professional rights and responsibilities and adhere to ethical values. In addition to our equipped laboratories consisting of devices based on up-to-date technology used in Turkey and the world, our dynamic teaching staff who are researcher, innovative, productive and full of teaching enthusiasm, using up-to-date books and publications in a contemporary and modern environment, using interactive methods in good communication with students, We aim to gain functional harmony, integrate with the society as successful individuals who have high motivation and individual work discipline, can take initiative and lead, have a sense of responsibility, are open to learning, and grow up with an investigative spirit. In our versatile undergraduate program, it is our greatest goal to train well-equipped physiotherapists by offering a rich selection of elective courses that will support the professional, social and individual development of our students in addition to the compulsory courses.

11. Which courses will physiotherapy students take?

Our first and second-year students will usually take basic medical sciences and YÖK compulsory common courses. In the third and fourth years, they will receive training in departmental courses where theoretical and applied courses are dominant. In addition, they will have the opportunity to reinforce the knowledge they have learned through vocational and clinical practice courses.

12. What is the total credits received by the students while graduating from the Physiotherapy department?

To graduate from our department, it is necessary to complete at least 240 ECTS courses that meet the program qualifications and to have an academic average of at least 2.00 out of 4.

13. What can be the titles of graduates of the physiotherapy department?

Graduates of our department receive the title of 'physiotherapist'.

14. Is there a compulsory internship in the physiotherapy department and how long does it take?

Our students have to carry out their summer internship, which lasts for a total of 40 working days, 20 working days each, during the summer semesters transitioning from the fourth to the fifth and from the sixth to the seventh semesters. In the seventh and eighth semesters, they have to do their fourth-year clinical practice internship during the education and training period, with a minimum of three working days in a week in each semester and a minimum of forty-five working days in a total for a fifteen-week semester. Thanks to the cooperation between Fenerbahçe and Medicana groups, our students' internship opportunities are guaranteed.

 

15. Are there opportunities for double major and minor programs at your university?

There are double major and minor opportunities at our university. Double Major / Minor programs are carried out by the provisions of the "Regulation on the Principles of Transfer between Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs in Higher Education Institutions, Double Major, Minor and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer" and Fenerbahçe University Double Major and Minor Program Directive.

16. How is the physical education environment of your department?

In our department, we have laboratories consisting of devices based on current technology, where our in-field practical courses are held. In addition to these, we have classrooms where our lessons are taught comfortably.

17. How do you provide foreign language education in your department?

Before starting the department, English preparatory education is given as compulsory for program students whose language of instruction is English. Our department curriculum includes compulsory English courses in the first and second semesters so that our students do not have foreign language problems after graduation and can follow the current literature and books without any problems.

18. In which fields can I continue my postgraduate education after graduating from physiotherapy departments?

Graduates of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation can continue their postgraduate education in the fields of neurological rehabilitation, orthopedic rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, prosthetic orthotic biomechanics, sports physiotherapy, hand surgery and pediatric rehabilitation, as well as basic medical sciences such as physiology, histology, and anatomy.

19. How did you continue your education during the Covid-19 period?

Blackboard, the learning management system where the courses taught within the scope of distance education are carried out, is used in our university. Audio and video communication with students, sharing of digital materials (lecture notes, presentations, etc.), measurement and evaluation (quiz, homework, midterm, final exams, etc.) are made through this platform within the scope of the courses.

 

20. Are there any other activities outside the curriculum in your department?

In our department, various activities are held in the company of our valuable guests, instructors, and physiotherapists, who are experts in their fields, to develop our students professionally and to gain a wider and different perspective on every subject.
