International Students

Fenerbahçe University (FBU) is waiting for international students!
There are 20 undergraduate programs under 5 faculties and 13 associate degree programs under 1 vocational school at Fenerbahçe University.

The main reasons for being an international student at Fenerbahçe University are:

• Few students in small classes and faculties

 • Double major and minor program opportunities

 • The possibility of being with a classmate of talented and successful students from Turkey

 • Opportunity to study abroad in exchange programs with scholarships from university partners in the USA, Europe, and Asia

• A chance to study at a university with strong connections with the business sectors.

As the International Office (IO), we aim to assist and guide international students throughout their undergraduate studies. We support our students during their integration into their social and educational life to prevent foreigners from suffering during their education at the FBU.

The International Office is located on the L1 floor in the FBU main building. Please do not hesitate to stop by on your first visit and when you need help during your training period!

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

• Official High School Diploma
• Official high school transcripts (and estimated high school GPA) for all years
• Original Passport Copy
• Motivation Letter (Optional)
• 2 letters of recommendation (Optional)
• English language proficiency exam score (TOEFL, CAE or YDS) for departments where English is taught. If the student does not have the required English Proficiency certificate, the student must take the English Proficiency exam at Fenerbahçe University before starting the undergraduate education.
• For departments in Turkish; Turkish language proficiency exam score, if any (at least B1 level). If the required Turkish Proficiency Certificate is not available, the student must take a Turkish language course. Guidance on Turkish language courses will be done by the international office.

ADMISSON PROCEDURES FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

The first place you need to visit right after your arrival at the FBU main campus is the International Registration office.

Documents Required for Admission

• Official high school diploma and certified translation (in Turkish or English).

• Lise eğitiminin tamamında alınan tüm dersleri ve notları gösteren resmi transkript belgesi ve onaylı tercümesi (Türkçe veya İngilizce’ye).

• "Equivalency Certificate", confirming the equivalence of your high school diploma to the Turkish High School Diploma, can be obtained from the Turkish Embassy in your country or may be obtained from the Ministry of Education in Turkey.

• Original national or International exam result.

• The original certificate of English proficiency exam grade (for international students to study in English Programs)

• At least B1 Level of the original Turkish language exam score (for international students to study in Turkish Programs)

• Original and copy of your passport pages, including photo, identification and visa stamp

• Copy of visa or residence permit

• 2 biometric photos

• Tuition fee payment receipt

• Birth certificate for students under 18 when enrolling

• Official 'Letter of Acceptance' sent by Fenerbahçe Universit

• Full Comprehensive Health insurance.

RESIDENCE PERMIT

All international students studying at Fenerbahçe University must obtain a residence permit from the Turkish government. Students must apply for a residence permit within 30 days of entering the country. The duration of the residence permit process is about 90 days. After the residence permit application, you must not leave Turkey until your permission. The international office will assist you in detail in directing the residence permit.

 The residence permit application process steps:

•   Make an appointment with the Foreign Affairs Police Department using the link provided below:

 The appointment date is determined on the system. You must print the confirmation page on colored paper before leaving the website. If you cannot print it, record the reference number of the appointment.

Go to the Foreign Relations Police Service for an Appointment.

Students must personally go to the Foreign Affairs Directorate for application appointments. Never miss this appointment. The police will not postpone appointments. Plan to arrive a few minutes early.

Students should bring the following documents with them on their way to an appointment.

• Passport
• Photocopy of passport identification page and pages with entry stamp.
• Print the confirmation page on colored paper.
• FBU Admission Letter
• Health Insurance
• 4 passport size photos
• Application fee

At the end of the appointment, students will be given a receipt.

• How to go to the Foreign Security Directorate:

From Kadıköy: Use the Eminönü Ferries to get to Karaköy. Take the Kabataş-Zeytinburnu tram from Karaköy to Zeytinburnu. Get off at Yusufpaşa and go to the police station.

HEALTH INSURANCE

Health insurance is a legal requirement for international students in Turkey and is also one of the conditions for receiving a residence permit. International students have two options to take advantage of health insurance.

1) Private Full Comprehensive Health Insurance: This insurance is different from the type of insurance made during the visa process. You can buy this insurance from private companies. When accepted, Fenerbahçe University will give you information about health insurance companies.

2) General Health Insurance of the Social Security Institution: This type of insurance is a state health insurance that must be applied within the first three months after enrollment at the university.
