During the Fall semester of 2024-2025, our university implemented 16 projects aimed at social benefit as part of the Social Responsibility Project course.
Between September and December 2024, 16 social responsibility projects were carried out under the “CEP301 Social Responsibility Project” and “CEP303 Civic Engagement Project” courses, which encourage students to take an active role in contributing to society. Under the guidance of 11 faculty members serving as advisors, 222 students participated in various initiatives spanning environmental sustainability, healthcare, educational equity, and support for stray animals.
The "School Buddy" project, guided by Lecturer Ecem Şen, aimed to raise awareness of the challenges individuals with disabilities face in daily life and promote equal opportunities in education. As part of the project, TSP members were paired with disabled students at Fenerbahçe University to foster solidarity and work together to find solutions to everyday obstacles. Additionally, a music event and a New Year's gift-giving initiative were organized to strengthen social bonds.
As part of the "Violence Against Women Awareness" project, guided by Lecturer Hayriye Ercan, efforts were made to highlight the issue of violence against women and raise societal awareness. A stand event was organized at Fenerbahçe University, where information was shared about ALO 183, women's shelters, and available support mechanisms. Posters, leaflets, and brochures—prepared in collaboration with the Mor Çatı Women's Solidarity Foundation—were displayed on campus with support from the Midwifery Student Club. Students were educated on the types and effects of violence against women, their legal rights, and available resources, while guidance was also provided for both victims and those looking to offer support.
To raise awareness about the nutrition, shelter, and health needs of stray animals, the "Feeding Stray Animals" and "Care and Awareness for Stray Animals" projects were carried out at Fenerbahçe University under the advisorship of Assistant Professor Dr. Mustafa Sami Kaçar. Food containers and shelters were set up at designated locations in Ataşehir and Kadıköy, and informational brochures were created and distributed to students. Additionally, food was provided to help meet the basic needs of street animals.
As part of the "Hygiene for the Future" project, a training session was held at Ümraniye Zehra Ülker Primary School to raise awareness of cleanliness and hygiene among elementary school students. The project, carried out under the advisorship of Assistant Professor Dr. Mustafa Sami Kaçar, included practical lessons on tooth brushing and handwashing techniques, and hygiene kits were distributed. Educational videos and practical activities were organized to reinforce hygiene practices, and students were encouraged to adopt and maintain these healthy habits.
Guided by Lecturer Melis Merve Çetinkaya, the "Stop Breast Cancer" project aimed to raise awareness about breast cancer and emphasize the importance of early diagnosis. In collaboration with the Nursing Club, an information stand was set up on campus, where handbooks, awareness brochures, and gifts related to breast cancer were distributed to students. Awareness content was shared on social media, and both in-person and online informational activities were conducted.
The "Food Donation Box for Innocent Lives" project, under the supervision of Lecturer Emre Kuğu, aimed to improve the living conditions of stray animals and raise social awareness. Food donation boxes were placed in prominent locations across Fenerbahçe University's Ataşehir Campus, specifically in B and F Blocks, while environmentally friendly water and food containers, designed by TSP members, were also set up on campus using funds raised through the project. This initiative helped meet the basic needs of stray animals during the winter months and contributed to reinforcing social responsibility awareness within the community.
As part of the "Help for LÖSEV" project, guided by Assistant Professor Dr. Mustafa Sami Kaçar, various activities were organized to support LÖSEV Awareness Week. TSP members assisted with preparations by decorating the area with orange ribbons, the symbol of LÖSEV, organized a volunteer meeting, and conducted a clothing donation campaign for children and young people in need. Furthermore, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Mustafa Sami Kaçar, the "Clean Environment, Clean Future" and "Environmental Cleanliness and Recycling Awareness" projects were carried out, including a beach cleaning event in cooperation with Kadıköy Municipality. Informative brochures were prepared and distributed to raise awareness about the importance of recycling. On November 28, 2024, "Cleanliness Day" was declared, and cleaning and recycling activities were held in and around the university. Environmental awareness was further promoted by sharing informative content on social media.
Under the guidance of Assistant Professor Dr. Anıl Tosun, posture awareness training was provided to primary and secondary school students at MBA Ataşehir Campus as part of the "Your Spine is a Hero, Take Care of It" project. The training, which involved students from the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, focused on the importance of spinal health. Posture correction exercises were demonstrated, and students were educated on how to maintain a healthy posture. The project, aimed at preventing posture disorders in school-age children, sought to contribute to the long-term reduction of musculoskeletal system problems.
As part of the "Water is Life: Preventing Water Waste and Raising Awareness" project, carried out under the advisorship of Assistant Professor Dr. Burcu Akkurt, an information stand was set up in collaboration with the Physiotherapy Club to raise awareness about water waste and encourage societal change. At the stand, brochures and posters highlighting the causes and consequences of water waste were displayed, and information on water-saving methods was shared. Additionally, a social media campaign was launched through the @Instagram_TSP account, where posts and stories aimed at raising awareness were shared.
Within the scope of "We Send Our Books, We Share Our Future" and "We Collect Books for Secondary School Students" projects, carried out under the supervision of Assistant Professor
Dr. Mustafa Sami Kaçar, a book donation campaign was organized to increase access to books for disadvantaged students and encourage reading habits. A call for donations was made by displaying posters at Fenerbahçe University Ataşehir Campus. The collected books were then sorted by grade level and sent to Şırnak Uludere Primary School and Çekmeköy Çamlık Secondary School. The project aimed to contribute to equal opportunities in education and raise social awareness.
The "Reducing Food Waste and Raising Awareness" project, guided by Assistant Professor Dr. Bengi Çetiner Bingül, aimed to highlight the environmental, economic, and social impacts of food waste and promote sustainable living. The project included an awareness campaign through the @fbu.gidatik Instagram account, as well as practical activities dedicated to Food Waste Week. Students were educated on methods to prevent food waste, and creative recipes using leftover food were shared. The project aimed to contribute to a sustainable future by raising awareness about food waste.
"Ergonomics for Yoga and Sports Injury Prevention," a project guided by Lecturer Ayşe Asena Yekdaneh and Lecturer Uğur Canöz, aimed to prevent sports injuries and raise awareness about ergonomics. On December 26, 2024, the "Ergonomics for Yoga" event was held at Fenerbahçe University Ataşehir Campus, where participants were educated on the causes of sports injuries, ergonomic principles, and yoga practices. The importance of ergonomics awareness was emphasized through practical yoga and breathing exercises. This initiative aimed to help individuals make more conscious and healthier choices in their daily lives.
